Iran has warned that it will respond decisively to any military attack, while at the same time signaling readiness to engage in dialogue through the United Nations, provided that its national interests are respected.

In a statement issued by Iran’s mission to the United Nations, Tehran said it remains open to dialogue on disputed issues, stressing that any negotiations must be based on mutual respect and recognition of Iranian interests. The mission emphasized that talks cannot proceed if Iran’s sovereignty or core interests are undermined.

“Iran is ready for dialogue,” the mission said in urgent remarks, adding that any discussions or understandings must be founded on respect for Iran’s national interests.

At the same time, the Iranian mission issued a strong warning, stating that Tehran would respond to any attack under what it described as its legitimate right to self-defense. The statement underlined that Iran would not hesitate to act if subjected to aggression.

The remarks come amid renewed tensions between Tehran and Washington. US President Donald Trump reiterated his warnings to Iran and called on Iranian officials to return to the negotiating table, as the United States bolstered its military presence in the region on Wednesday.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump said that a “massive fleet” was heading toward Iran, led by the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln. He described the deployment as larger than the force previously sent toward Venezuela, asserting that it was “ready, capable, and able to carry out its mission quickly and forcefully if necessary.”
