Iran’s Foreign Ministry said on Monday that it has summoned the ambassadors of European Union countries in Tehran in protest against the inclusion of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on terrorism lists.
In a statement, the Iranian ministry described the move as a formal diplomatic response to what it called a hostile and unjustified decision by European states, warning that the designation could further escalate tensions between Tehran and the European Union.
The development comes amid heightened regional and international tensions, as Israeli media reported that U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff has arrived in Israel ahead of meetings with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and senior security and military officials.
According to Israeli reports, the talks are expected to focus on regional security developments, including Iran-related issues, ongoing conflicts, and coordination between Washington and Tel Aviv amid evolving diplomatic and military challenges.
The parallel developments underscore the growing strain in regional diplomacy, as Iran pushes back against European pressure while Israel intensifies consultations with key allies over security concerns in the Middle East.
