Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian announced that "Tehran will not receive the new Swedish ambassador and will not send its ambassador to Stockholm," against the background of the repeated burning of the Holy Quran in Sweden.

Abdollahian told Iranian television, "The duties of the current Swedish ambassador in Tehran have ended, and Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi decided not to receive the new Swedish ambassador, unless the Swedish authorities take appropriate measures to preserve the sanctity of the heavenly books, especially the Holy Quran."

He also stressed the need for the Swedish authorities to hold accountable the person who insulted the Holy Qur’an for the second time.
