Iran has announced plans to close about 1,000 kilometers of its border with Afghanistan as part of a long-term security strategy.
Hossein Mousavi, head of the engineering authority in Iran’s armed forces, confirmed the initiative during a ceremony honoring military engineers and specialists.
The move aims to prevent the infiltration of terrorists and curb drug trafficking.
Engineering teams have already been deployed to implement the project, achieving significant progress.
The border closure is expected to continue for the next eight years as part of Iran’s broader efforts to enhance national security and combat illegal activities along its frontier with Afghanistan.
