A Vistara Airlines flight traveling from New Delhi to London was forced to make an emergency landing at Frankfurt Airport in Germany late on Friday following a bomb threat.
The plane, carrying 147 passengers, was diverted after a threat was posted on the social media platform "X," falsely claiming that a bomb had been planted on board.
Upon receiving the threat, the pilot immediately notified German air traffic control and requested a diversion to Frankfurt.
The request was granted, and the flight safely landed at 9:02 PM local time (19:02 GMT).
Once on the ground, passengers were evacuated, and the aircraft underwent a thorough inspection by German police and bomb-sniffing dogs.
After an exhaustive search, no explosives were found, and the plane was declared safe.
This incident marks the second time in recent weeks that a Vistara Airlines flight has been disrupted by a bomb scare.
In early September, another Vistara flight from Mumbai to Frankfurt was diverted to an airport in eastern Turkey after a bomb threat was found written on a piece of toilet paper onboard. That threat, like the one in this latest case, also proved to be false.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the source of the hoax and ensure the safety of future flights.
Bomb threats targeting commercial airlines have been a growing concern, causing disruptions, evacuations, and delays, even when found to be baseless.
