India has finalized a significant defense deal with the United States to acquire 31 MQ-9B Predator drones, a move aimed at bolstering its military capabilities.
The $3.5 billion contract, announced on Sunday, marks a major step forward for India's armed forces, enhancing their surveillance and combat operations.
According to Indian media outlet NDTV, the Indian Navy will receive 15 of the drones, while both the Army and Air Force will each obtain eight units.
These state-of-the-art drones are equipped with advanced reconnaissance and precision strike capabilities.
They can fly for up to 40 hours at altitudes reaching 40,000 feet, offering valuable endurance for long missions.
The MQ-9B drones are also capable of automatic takeoff and landing, and they can safely integrate into civilian airspace, making them highly versatile for both military and potential civilian applications.
