India Opens Pavilion at Egypt Defence Expo 2023

An India Pavilion has been set up under the aegis of Ministry of Defence (Department of Defence Production), Government of India in the 3rd edition of Egypt Defence Expo [EDEX-23] being organized from 4-7 December 2023 at Egypt International Exhibition Centre, Nasr City, Cairo. 15 prominent Indian companies are participating in EDEX-23. India’s Defence Research & Development Organization [DRDO] andDefence Public Sector Undertakings such as Bharat Electronics Limited [BEL], Bharat Dynamics Limited [BDL], Hindustan Aeronautics Limited [HAL], Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited [MDL], Armoured Vehicles Nigam Limited [AVNL], India Optel Limited [IOL]& Advanced Weapons & Equipment India Ltd [AWEIL] form part of the India Pavilion while other companies have independent stalls. On the opening day itself, the India Pavilion saw good foot fall of visitors including official delegations.

A number of high level meetings and discussions were undertaken by the Indian Defence manufacturing companies with the Egyptian Armed Forces during the Expo. HE General Zaki, Minister of Defence and Military Production visited the India Pavilion on 06 Dec 2023. He was briefed aboutIndia’s indigenous capabilities in defence sector by the CMD Bharat Dynamics Ltd. In addition, various delegations including the Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces visited the Indian Pavilion to get first hand experience of the Indian defence manufacturing ecosystem. This is the third successive and very productive Indian participation in the current edition of EDEX -23 which culminates on 07 Dec 2023.
