President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and leaders of the armed forces performed Friday prayers at Al-Moshir Tantawy Mosque on the occasion of Egypt's celebrations of the Day of the Martyr and the War Veteran, according to Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Rady.
Sheikh Khaled El Gendi, one of the Azhar’s scholars of, delivered the Friday sermon, stressing the merit of martyrdom, and that God Almighty appropriated the martyrs to the greatest and highest ranks.

“The commemoration of the martyr's day reminds us of the noblest human beings after the prophets and messengers, the martyrs,” Gendi said.
He concluded his sermon by praying for the martyrs and that God preserves Egypt, its army and its people from all harm and evil.

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defense and Military Production Lieutenant General Mohamed Zaki, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Lieutenant General Mohamed Farid, Minister of Endowments Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa, Minister of Interior Major General Mahmoud Tawfiq, Mufti Shawky Allam, the Governor of Cairo, leaders of the main branches and senior commanders of the armed forces, a number of officers, non-commissioned officers, soldiers, and students of military colleges and institutes performed the prayers too.
