Representatives of the 15 member states of the United Nations Security Council arrived in Syria on Thursday, according to official media, in a first-of-its-kind visit by the council to Damascus, coming nearly a year after the overthrow of former President Bashar al-Assad.
The official news agency (SANA) reported that a delegation of representatives of the member states of the UN Security Council arrived in Syria, via the Jdeidet Yabous border crossing with Lebanon, and that they were scheduled to meet with a number of Syrian officials and civil society activists.
The delegation is scheduled to meet with officials in the new authorities in Damascus, with Lebanon being the second stop on their tour.
