“We will not leave a single Egyptian stranded and we will secure every Egyptian around the world,” a short sentence but it was implemented on the ground by the Ministry of State for Immigration and Egyptian Expatriate Affairs (MIEEA).
The MIEEA had begun a campaign a to recover back 300 Egyptians from the city of Wuhan in China, the epicenter of the Coronavirus. The campaign was implemented with great professionalism and success.
Also the Ministry retrieved 32 Egyptian fishermen who were detained in Yemen on a private plane. It formed an operating room that follows up, communicates and find solutions to the problems of citizens stranded abroad and their flights abruptly stopped.
Pilot Mohamed Manar Enbah, Egypt’s Minister of Civil Aviation, led a trip to London to return dozens of Egyptians from there before the decision to suspend flights that started on Thursday and will still in effect until the end of this month.
Today, Ambassador Nabila Makram, Minister of Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs Abroad, announced the return of 1,700 students stranded on the Egyptian-Sudanese border.
She said that since a couple of days, a team of the Ministry and other government departments worked in full swing to ensure safety of the Egyptian students and Qastal land crossing.
The MIEEA coordinated with the Ministry of Health to bring students to the crossing for medical examinations. The students suffered from hunger, thirst, and boredom.
They felt the difference in handling their problem after receiving good treatment from border guardsmen.
The state opened the crossing and they saw the teams of MIEEA spoke to them on their phones and reassured their families.
Makram went on to say through her account on the social networking site Facebook, that a whole system worked to return our stranded sons.
“A sincere patriot businessman donated not only buses, when I asked him to transport the stranded students from the crossing to their homes, but also provided enough meals for them until the end of the medical examinations,” she said.
The minister is striving for the safety of the students.
A problem had emerged about how to deliver meals to the students. The border guards intervened to bring meals to the stranded students. They fetched private boats to convey meals to the students.
The minister added that prayers of the mothers of the students are the best reward for everyone who worked these days as they returned these sons to their families. This is the pinnacle of success, praise be to God.
In the same context, the Egyptian government had taken several positive decisions to manage the crisis linked to the Coronavirus which is sweeping the world.
It has issued a decision to suspend studying in universities and schools for a period of two weeks, and to close restaurants, cafes, cafeterias, cafeterias, casinos, cabarets, nightclubs, and business centers from 7 pm to 6 Morning until March 31.
It ruled also to close sports and popular clubs and youth centers from seven in the evening until six in the morning until March 31. The government also issued a package of decisions to support the industrial sector and deal with the economic consequences of the novel Coronavirus.
Those decisions reduce the price of natural gas for industry at $ 4.5 per million thermal units, and to reduce the electricity prices for industry for the high, high and medium voltage by 10 piasters.
The government announced fixing and non-increase in electricity prices for the other industrial uses for the next 3 - 5 years. It will provide one billion pounds for exporters during March and April 2020 to pay part of their dues according to the agreed mechanisms with an additional 10% cash payment to exporters in June.
Payment of the real estate tax due on factories and tourist facilities will be postponed for a period of 3 months
Administrative reservations on all financiers who have a payable tax in return, will be lifted for paying 10% of the tax due.
Disputes with the tax service will be re-settled through the dispute resolution committees.
Important decisions for the Stock Exchange such as reducing the stamp tax on non-residents to become 1.25 per thousand, and reduce the stamp tax on residents to 0.5 per thousand instead of 1.5 per thousand.
The new decisions made by the government extend to reduce the capital gains tax rate for companies listed on the stock exchange by 50% to 5%.
They also include the full exemption of spot transactions on shares from stamp duty to stimulate the volume of transactions and exempting non-residents from the capital gains tax permanently and postponing this tax.
