Kristina Georgieva, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, said that she came to Egypt to express her appreciation and respect for President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and the Egyptian people, explaining that Egypt has committed to the measures it has taken to grow its economy, and has committed to increasing job opportunities, especially for young people.
She stressed that Egypt has become safer in a world characterized by shocks, and my message to the Egyptian people is that I am confident that you will see the benefits of this reform in the form of a more prosperous and growing economy.
Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, congratulated the Director of the International Monetary Fund on her re-election as the head of the fund, explaining that she met today with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and discussed joint steps.
The Director General of the International Monetary Fund had previously stated that Egypt bears heavy burdens as a result of the conflicts in Gaza and Sudan, noting that Egypt hosts about 9 million citizens from countries witnessing conflicts in the Middle East.
Kristina Georgieva, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, said that the tensions in the Middle East affected the Egyptian economy, as it lost 70% of the revenues of the Suez Canal due to the Gaza war.
