IDSC Highlights Successes of Egypt's Universal Health Insurance System

The Egyptian Cabinet's Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC) published a new infographic, titled "Consecutive Successes for the Universal Health Insurance System (UHI) in Egypt, in the context of celebrating Universal Health Coverage Day on December 12.

The infographic highlighted the official launch of the Universal Health Insurance System in Port Said in 2019, extending to Luxor, Ismailia, and South Sinai in 2021 until it reached Aswan in 2022.

According to the latest infographic, the System's key recent efforts were establishing the first mobile green hospital for COP27, the first of its kind in Egypt for the medical insurance provided for international conferences and events and launching the project of Egypt Healthcare Authority for medical tourism, named "We take care of you in Egypt".

Other efforts involve applying the unified Laboratory Information System (LIS) in 140 health facilities affiliated with the Authority and the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) in 35 health facilities affiliated with the Authority.

The System has also achieved many accomplishments conducting over 256,000 surgeries for the beneficiaries of the Universal Health Insurance System in Port Said, Luxor, and Ismailia +97% is the percentage of immediate response to the complaints of beneficiaries of the Universal Health Insurance System.
