Valentino Garavani, the renowned Italian fashion designer and founder of the legendary Valentino brand, has died at the age of 93 in his home in Rome, the Valentino Foundation announced.
In a statement posted on social media, the foundation said: “Valentino Garavani was not only a constant guide and inspiration to us all, but also a true source of light, creativity and vision.”
His body will lie in state at the Valentino Foundation headquarters in Rome on Wednesday and Thursday, before the funeral is held on Friday at the Santa Maria degli Angeli e dei Martiri church in Piazza della Repubblica.
Valentino’s elegant designs, known for the iconic “Valentino Red,” were a staple of the fashion world for nearly half a century, defining glamour and luxury in haute couture.
