Liverpool legend Phil Thompson has said on Wednesday that he is worried about the Reds' star Mohamed Salah due to his recent ankle injury.

Salah's injury began, when he suffered a serious one and was replaced by Adam Lallana during the Reds’ 2-1 victory over Leicester City after he was hacked down by Hamza Choudhury.

His injury was renewed once again during Liverpool's 2-1 hard-fought victory over Tottenham as he was replaced by Joe Gomez in the 85th minute of the game.

Thompson expressed his concern about the iconic Egyptian star saying that he is not fully fit.

"He’s just not getting away from people as you have seen that burst of speed. He’s getting away, but it’s only within tackling distance," Liverpool's legend said according to Metro.

‘His shooting certainly wasn’t on target against Genk and maybe he is saving them all for something," Thompson added.

Noteworthy, Salah made an outstanding assist as Liverpool snatched a hard-fought 2-1 Uefa Champions League victory over Genk at Anfield on Tuesday.

Salah’s stunning goal in last season Premier League encounter against Chelsea was selected among Nominees for Goal of the Season at the Northwest Football Awards.

Liverpool are set to clash against Manchester City on Sunday in the Premier League at 18:30 CLT
