Hungarian Defense Minister Krzysztof Salay Boprovnytsky announced that Ukraine has not received an invitation to join NATO because it is not ready for it.
"Ukraine did not get the invitation to join NATO this time because the situation is not appropriate, and Ukraine is not ready for NATO membership," Salai Borovnitsky said, in a video speech he posted on social networks.
It is worth mentioning that, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said Wednesday, in a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, that Ukraine is now closer to the alliance than ever before.
"I look forward to the day when we meet as allies," Stoltenberg told Zelensky, without giving further details of when Ukraine would become a member of the alliance.
"This will change Ukraine's membership path from a two-step process to a one-step process. And we will issue an invitation for Ukraine to join NATO when Allies agree that conditions are met. This is a strong, united message from Allies on your path to NATO membership," he said.
