Hungary’s Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said his country is the only EU country that has refused to train Ukrainian armed forces soldiers and fund the mission.

"We are the only ones who do not participate in the joint training mission of the Ukrainian army, we took the opportunity to constructively abstain (on the vote), that is, from a financial point of view, of course, we will also not contribute to this mission and its work," Szijjarto said on Monday.

According to the minister, Hungary believes that it is necessary to take decisions that achieve peace and not escalate the conflict.

However, as noted by Szijjarto, the state continues to provide assistance to Kyiv on a bilateral basis and began to do so "much earlier" than the rest of the EU.

Previously, the foreign minister mentioned that Hungary would not allow the EU to take decisions that aggravate the conflict in Ukraine.
