Iranian sources reported that a huge explosion occurred Wednesday on a main natural gas pipe line in the city of Borujen, southwest of Iran.
The sources added that the sound of the huge explosion reached a distance of approximately 60 kilometers from the accident site.
The Iranian Radio and Television Corporation quoted the city's governor, Fattah Karami, as saying that the accident was likely caused by an explosion in the national high-pressure gas pipeline.

He added, "The communication axis between Burogen, Lordjan, and Khuzestan in the vicinity of the pipeline that witnessed the explosion has been closed, while rescue and firefighting teams are stationed at the site."
The Iranian "Khabar" channel quoted a security source as saying, "The fire will expand as long as there is gas in the line, hoping that the efforts of the firefighters will be useful."
