Arab football fans will wait for the most awaited encounter between Saudi Al Hilal and Egypt's Al Ahly in the third place play-off of the FIFA Club World Cup.

The African champions failed to reach the final after inflecting a 0-2 defeat to Palmeiras.

On the other hand, Chelsea snatched a hard-fought 1-0 win over the AFC champions to knock them out of the tournament.

Here is the History of both teams encounters:

The first meeting was in the 1988-89 Arab Championship qualifiers as both teams held draw.

The second match was in the Arab Elite championship and the Red Devils won 1-0 in 1996.

One year later, both teams clashed once again and the Red Devils secured their second victory over the Saudi's team.

Al Hilal pulled off their first victory in the International friendship tournament in 1999.

The preliminary round of the 2004 Arab Championship brought together Al-Hilal and Al-Ahly again, and the meeting ended in a goalless draw. The last match between the two teams was in the retirement match of Abdullah Al-Shraideh in 2013, and it also ended in a draw.
