Though Egyptians enjoy watching and listening to a lot of different types of puppets songs and shows, there are two remarkable puppets who are more important to them than any other puppets. They are Abla Fahita  and Dr. Alfons.

Abla Fahita

The lady that put puppets on the map, Abla Fahita set the stage for children's programming for ten years to come. The puppet narrated jokes, interacted with his human costars, and most importantly made old aged, young boys and kids around the country laugh.

Abla Fahita is an Egyptian satirical puppet character. The remarkable character was introduced online in 2010. The infamous widow with her sharp tongue, acid humour and an obvious defiance for taboos has gained more lovers and haters. Being a puppet loved by children yet hosting a show for adults has been her controversy.

Moreover, Abla Fahita is a popular puppet that appeared in 2011 and performed her first entertainment program on CBC Channel.

Abla Fahita’s ‘’Live from the Duplex’’ program is produced by the leading production company Synergy.

It's worth noting that Abla Fahita is the highest paid female presenter in the Middle East, according to Egyptian news agencies.

The character has a little daughter, Caro (Carcoura) who she treats in a tough way to roughen her up for a rough world. Her son is Boudi, her favorite and most cherished.

In 2014, Abla Fahita cooperated with the renowned Egyptian composer and Arab Idol judge Hassan El Shafei in a song named "Mayestahloushi" ("they are not worthy") which hit more than a million and a half views in less than a week (considered a lot at that time).

Lately, Abla Fahita has announced cooperation with Netflix to produce its second Egyptian series. “Abla Fahita'' series is the production of OKWRD in cooperation with ASAP Productions.

It's worth mentioning that "Abla Fahita" series will show the human side of the most famous Egyptian puppet in socio-comic attire mixed with excitement, mystery and adventures.

Abla Fahita has many successful hit records, performed shows at famous venues like Dubai International Film Festival.

Dr. Alfons

If you have no clue who's Dr Alfons, then let us tell you more about this interesting funny character. On the outside, he's just a typical old man. But once he starts singing, he'll surprise you with his dark humour and wit.

The cool grandpa puppet has been around for quite a while, using his sarcastic humor and burgeoning music career to discuss important topics like relationships, being a cool grandpa, and being a sugar daddy

In 2018, Egyptian music producer Wael Alaa, known as Neobyrd, brought Dr Alfons into the light. The singing puppet managed to achieve massive fame with the shockingly good music video for 'El Shetta Gai'.

Later that same year, he made an appearance in the comedian Tameem Younes' hit song, Enti Ay Kalam, with one quite memorable, catchy solo.

It seems that Abla Fahita wasn’t the only puppet who dropped a quarantine-themed song last year.

Egypt’s coolest grandpa, Dr. Alfons, also did; this one’s not entirely new though.

'Ana Msh Bataedy' is actually a remake of the Dr.’s latest hit, Ana Msh Bangereh, and it’s just as catchy.

Locked in what we believe is his Nile view apartment, Dr. Alfons showed a new side of partying and that social distancing does not have to eliminate the fun.

The character has two sons, Waal who writes and composes songs and Yasser who manages his father's social media accounts.

Similarly, Alfons's first breakthrough hit in December 2018 with a song written by Mohamed El Ghaamrawy, "Msh Bangerh '' (I didn't get shy), set him off on his musical career, and he has performed earlier shows in several TV and Radio channels.
