Severe winter weather in Japan has forced airlines to cancel more than 100 flights on Tuesday as heavy snowfall and strong winds continue to disrupt travel across the country.
Japan’s national broadcaster NHK reported that All Nippon Airways (ANA) cancelled 52 flights, while Japan Airlines (JAL) cancelled 37.
Other carriers also suspended operations, including Peach Aviation with 12 cancellations, Fuji Dream Airlines with four, and Air Do and Jetstar Japan, each cancelling two flights.
Airlines have urged passengers to check the latest updates on their official websites, warning that additional cancellations or delays are possible if the weather conditions persist.
Meteorologists predict continued snowfall and strong winds, especially in northern regions of Japan.
Heavy snowstorms are expected to hit parts of Hokkaido, raising concerns over dangerous travel conditions.
Weather authorities have issued warnings to residents about the potential impacts, including transport disruptions, high waves, and flooding caused by high tides.
