On Sunday, the death toll of the latest heat waves in Greece this month after the Greek authorities reported the death of a US citizen in the Mediterranean country.
The authorities said that the body of the US citizen who had been missing on Mathraki island near Corfu since Tuesday was found on a beach on Sunday.
This announcement came after finding a man's body on Samos the day before.
A Dutch hiker is still missing for a week, and some voices said that the body found on Samos could belong to him. The identity of the body is not confirmed yet.
At least five tourists remain missing across Greece.
Police Spokeswoman Constantina Dimoglidou said: “The problem of missing hikers is not new — we have it every year,” adding: “But this year, it seems more people became disoriented during the heat wave.”
One of the missing people was a retired police officer, who carries the US and France nationalities, Albert Calibet on the Aegean Amorgos.
Two French women on another Aegean island, Sikinos are also among the missing people.
Greece witnessed two back-to-back heat waves over the past two weeks. The temperatures reached 38 degrees Celsius in many parts of the country.
