Health Ministry Spokesman Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said on Wednesday that about 40.2% of Egyptian citizens received the COVID-19 vaccine.
In press remarks, Abdel Ghaffar added that the state aims to vaccinate 70% of citizens during the coming period, stressing that vaccinating the largest number of citizens will reduce hospital admission, deaths rates, and combat virus mutations.
Health Affairs Presidential Advisor Mohamed Awad Tag El-Din said on Wednesday that 500,000 citizens received COVID-19 booster shots, especially those with weak immunity.
In a press conference, Tag El-Din urged citizens to remain home, follow preventive measures and avoid crowded places.
