Prominent Egyptian Egyptologist Dr. Zahi Hawass mourned the death of former Defense Minister Mohamed Hussein Tantawi, who passed away earlier today, Tuesday.
Hawass offered his sincere condolences to his family, and the armed forces, asking God Almighty to bestow His mercy and forgiveness upon the late leader, and to inspire his family with patience and solace.
"When I served as Egypt’s Minister of Antiquities, I asked Field Marshal Tantawi to protect archaeological sites and museums, during January 2011 events, so he sent forces to secure them," Hawass added.
