Hassan Sheikh Mohamud Sworn in as President of Somali

Hassan Sheikh Mohamud was sworn in on Monday as the president of Somali after winning the presidential elections, becoming the tenth president in the country's history.

According to Russia Today, Sheikh Mahmoud, 67, who served as Somalia’s president between 2012 and 2017,was sworn in at a military base at Mogadishu International Airport, amid strict security measures.

After the vote counting process was completed, Speaker of the House of the People (Lower House), Sheikh Aden Mohamed Nur Madobe,announced that Sheikh Mahmoud had obtained 214 votes, compared to 110 votes for his rival, outgoing president, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo.
