The Embassy of the Republic of Korea invited the most promising young Egyptian table tennis player Hana Gouda to the Embassy in Dokki on June 6, ahead of her tour of Korea to participate in the joint training camp with the Korean national table tennis team in July.
This event is to support Hana’s stay in Korea so that she could adapt to the new environment as early as possible and focus on her training by familiarising Hana who is visiting Korea for the first time with Korean culture.
Ambassador Hong Jin-wook encouraged Hana who was making history in Egypt's sports and mentioned that he wished that her training experience in Korea would be of great help to Hana's growth into a world-class table tennis player. Also, he explained that as her name “Hana” means “One” in Korean he believes that she will be the number one table tennis player in the world.
After the meeting with Ambassador Hong, Ms. Hana had a fun time playing a friendly table tennis game with the Embassy staff and had an opportunity to try various Korean food for lunch.
Ambassador Hong added that the Embassy was exerting its efforts to enhance the bilateral cooperation in the field of youth and sports between the two countries as part of its public diplomacy policies. He also wished that Hana’s visit would become a catalyst for a full-fledged exchange between the two countries in the sports field as well.
