Tomorrow, Monday, a delegation from the Hamas movement, headed by Khalil al-Hayya, will arrive in Cairo, to deliver the movement’s response regarding the truce proposal in the Gaza Strip.

Foreign Minister (FM) Sameh Shoukry participated on Saturday evening, April 27, 2024, in the consultative ministerial meeting of the six Arab countries concerned with following up on the developments of the Gaza Strip crisis.

The meeting was attended by Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the State of Qatar, and the State of Palestine. The meeting was held on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Riyadh.

The Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zaid stated that the meeting witnessed extensive discussions on the efforts made to stop the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, the Egyptian/Qatari mediation efforts in cooperation with the United States, and the coordination of Arab positions and messages sent to international partners in this regard.

During the meeting, Minister Shoukry reiterated his warning against the risks of Israel carrying out a ground military operation in the Palestinian city of Rafah, due to its catastrophic humanitarian consequences for more than 1.4 million Palestinians, and its security repercussions for the stability of the region. This was a point of agreement among the participants, who affirmed their categorical rejection of any attempts to displace Palestinians from their land or liquidate the Palestinian cause.
