The Hamas movement has called on mediators to take decisive action to compel Israel to adhere to the Gaza agreement and prevent any attempts to obstruct its implementation, according to Al-Qahera News.
The appeal comes as Egypt leads political and diplomatic efforts to implement the second phase of the ceasefire agreement, following the official announcement by U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff that the transition to the next stage has begun.
The second phase is based on three main pillars: the disarmament of Palestinian factions, the establishment of a technocratic governance structure, and the launch of reconstruction efforts in the Gaza Strip. As part of these arrangements, an agreement was reached to form a 15-member Palestinian technocratic committee to oversee civilian and administrative affairs during a transitional period.
The committee, headed by Dr. Ali Shaath, includes figures from the private sector and Palestinian civil society. Palestinian factions, including Hamas and Fatah, as well as the Palestinian presidency, have expressed support for the committee and readiness to transfer administrative responsibilities to it.
Meanwhile, consultations are ongoing between Washington and Arab and international partners regarding the formation of a temporary international stabilization force to be deployed in Gaza under United Nations supervision and in accordance with Security Council resolutions.
Egyptian mediation efforts aim to advance stability, alleviate humanitarian suffering, and pave the way for a broader political settlement for the Palestinian people.
