Guterres Hails Egypt, Qatar's Efforts to End Suffering in Gaza

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres hailed the efforts of Egypt, Qatar and the United States to reach an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, release the hostages and send humanitarian aid without disruption, Deputy Spokesman for the UN Secretary-General Farhan Haq said.

Speaking to Al Qahera News channel, Haq denounced Israel’s targeting of innocent civilians in the Gaza Strip.

According to Haq, Guterres affirmed the need to continue supplying clean water, food and medicine to the Gaza Strip, pointing out to the risks of famine, malnutrition and the spread of infectious diseases.

He also stressed the need to cease fire in the Gaza Strip and bring in all necessary humanitarian relief aid, adding that there is no safe place in the Strip with Israel’s continued targeting of civilians.
