GUC's Darwish: Implementing Visual Identity Project Nationwide National Duty

Dr. Dina Darwish, a teaching assistant at the Faculty of Applied Sciences and Arts of the German University in Cairo (GUC) said that Luxor Visual Identity is currently being implemented in the main bus stations and streets in the city.

Darwish, who is a member of the GUC project, was speaking on Monday on the sidelines of the third edition of the World Youth Forum (WYF), held in Sharm El Sheikh.

"The project will be implemented at the vital and tourist places, the airport, and squares," Darwish pointed out.

She added that the presidential assignment to the university to implement a visual identity nationwide in July in 2018 is a national duty, which needs to spare no effort to implement it in the best way, a matter which strongly promotes tourism.

Now, the project is being implemented in 11 governorates.

She also expressed her happiness that her colleague Yasmina Saleh who had sat beside Entissar El Sisi, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's spouse.

According to GUC, the letter ‘L’ is a 90-degree right angle, forming most of Luxor’s architecture. The ‘U’ is inspired by the temple’s passway, also a metaphorical representation of the pharaonic beliefs of the afterlife and the beyond, that all doors lead to greatness.

The third letter ‘X’ represents the city’s location of the east and west banks' meeting at the Nile front.

The letter ‘O’ is a mix of two important factors in Luxor, which are the sun and Nile – the source of life. The letter ‘R’, which is a representation of the eye of Horus, reflects the ancient Egyptian instinct and vision.”
