Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis underscored the critical importance of the strategic partnership between Greece and Egypt, emphasizing its role in ensuring the security and stability of Europe.
Speaking during a summit with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides, Mitsotakis highlighted the strength of their trilateral cooperation, particularly in addressing key geopolitical and economic challenges in the Eastern Mediterranean.
Mitsotakis praised the extensive efforts made within the East Mediterranean Gas Forum (EMGF), describing it as a vital platform for fostering collaboration in the region.
“Athens has played a significant role in promoting cooperation through the forum, which is essential for the stability and economic growth of the region,” he said.
Turning to broader regional issues, the Greek Prime Minister stressed the urgent need for a ceasefire in Gaza, the release of detainees, and a commitment to a two-state solution to achieve lasting peace.
"We must work together to halt the violence and find a path forward," he noted. He also highlighted the escalating instability in the Middle East, calling for stronger geopolitical cooperation to address these challenges.
On Syria, Mitsotakis emphasized the importance of preserving the country's territorial integrity and proposed a clear timeline for a political transition to ensure stability. "A structured transition is crucial to preventing further chaos and maintaining regional order," he said.
