The Grand Egyptian Museum was awarded two certificates of accreditation of international standards (ISO) in the two management systems for both the environment and quality.
The Museum has obtained three ISO certificates in three different fields; it had previously obtained an ISO certificate in last September in a management system for occupational Safety and Health.
Major General Atef Moftah, General Supervisor of the GEM project and the surrounding area, explained that the first certificate is for the environmental management system (ISO 14001: 2015), and the second is for the quality management system (ISO 9001: 2015).
Major General Atef Moftah indicated that this is the first time of its kind at the international and regional level that a museum has obtained these three certificates within less than 60 days, in the fields of environment, quality, safety and occupational health.
He announced that this comes as an affirmation of the constant keenness to apply all scientific standards And achieving the international standard specifications standards; Such as quality assurance, planning, performance evaluation and its continuous development, which works to achieve sustainability in the field of the environment.
He added that the positive impact of the museum's obtaining ISO certificates is expected to be reflected in local and international tourism, as the visitor will find remarkable interest in the environment, quality, occupational health and safety, as part of measurement mechanisms specially designed to measure the satisfaction of visitors.
The handover of the certificates was attended by Eng. Mohamed Habib, General Manager of OSS Middle East, Dr. Tariq Rizk, Consultant of OSS Middle East, Dr. Hussein Kamal, General Director of the Restoration Center at the Grand Egyptian Museum, Dr. Issa Zidan, Director General of Executive Affairs for Restoration and Transferring Antiquities at the Museum, and Dr. Shaima Eid Responsible The first occupational safety and health in the museum.
It is worth noting that the Grand Egyptian Museum is considered one of the most important national projects implemented by the Egyptian state, which is scheduled to open in 2021, as it is the largest museum of antiquities in the world dedicated to one civilization, the ancient Egyptian civilization.
The museum will display, for the first time together in one place, the monuments of King Tutankhamun The number of which exceeds 5000 pieces, in addition to a number of artifacts from prehistoric times until the Greek and Roman eras.
