Google Adds 3 More Languages for Meet Live Captions Feature

Google Meet’s Live Captions will support more languages than it did initially, providing live translations of English meetings into Japanese, Mandarin (simplified), and Swedish.

Earlier, the feature was used to translate English meetings into French, German, Portuguese, and Spanish only.

The Live Captions feature aims to enhance meeting efficiency by ensuring that all participants are able to get the same information. It is particularly useful for meetings or training sessions between international teams.

Meanwhile, Google Meet Live Captions: Availability The Live Captions feature is available only for select Google Workspace editions.

Last January, Google updated its video-calling platform with the Live Captions feature to make Google Meet video calls more inclusive and collaborative by removing language proficiency barriers.

In July, Google Meet allowed users to live stream their meetings to YouTube, starting from Monday, noting that other new features are underway for the next 15 days.

Admins will be able to choose whether they would like to enable live streaming, as well as streaming permissions for meeting participants.

The Google Workspace team said: “Live streaming is useful in situations where you want to present information to large audiences outside of your organization, giving them the opportunity to pause and replay as needed or view the presentation at a later time.”

The feature will be available to Google Workspace Inpidual users, Google One Premium plan members in selected regions, Google Workspace Enterprise Starter, Standard and Plus packages, and Education Plus, Teaching, and Learning Upgrade customers.
