Germany’s Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock announced that her country will provide an additional one million euros in aid to the "Malteser International" foundation to help the earthquake victims in Syria.

At a press conference in Berlin on Tuesday with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, Baerbock called for the opening of all border crossings to enable aid to reach those affected in Syria.

Yesterday, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights stated that the number of victims of the earthquake that struck Syria at dawn on Monday had risen to 1,970, in all areas hit by the quake, in addition to the injury of at least 2,000 people, and 72 cities, towns, and villages in the center, northwest, and west of the country were affected.

On the other hand, the Syrian Civil Defense warned, on Tuesday, of a rise in the water level of the Orontes River, west of Idlib, calling on residents in the city of Jisr al-Shughur and Darkush to exercise caution and stay away from the course of the river, after the devastating earthquake that struck Syria at dawn on Monday.

The defense ministry said in a statement posted on its official Twitter page: "If the river level continues to rise, it may lead to water entering the houses on both sides."
