The German Foreign and Development Ministries announced in a joint statement on Wednesday that the government intends to resume cooperation with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in Gaza.

This decision comes after a review led by former French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna, regarding whether some employees of the UN agency were involved in the Hamas attack on Israel in October.

The review concluded on Monday regarding the neutrality of UNRWA, stating that "Israel has not yet provided evidence to support its allegations that hundreds of UNRWA employees are affiliated with terrorist groups in the Gaza Strip."

The two ministries urged UNRWA to swiftly implement the recommendations of the review report, including strengthening internal oversight and enhancing external supervision of project management.

In the statement issued by the ministries, they stated that in support of these reforms, the German government will soon resume its cooperation with UNRWA in Gaza, as Australia, Canada, Sweden, Japan, and other countries have done.
