German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Dutch Prime Minister (PM) Mark Rutte agreed that a two-state solution for Israel and Palestine is the only way to peace.
This came during a joint press conference by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, at the headquarters of the German Chancellery in the capital Berlin, following talks between them in which they discussed the situation in the Middle East.
"Israel must act within the framework of international humanitarian law," German Chancellor said, expressing Germany's concern about the suffering of Palestinian civilians in Gaza Strip.
On his part, Dutch Prime Minister (PM) said, "Netherlands supports Israel's right to self-defense in accordance with the law of war," noting that the discussion of the situation in Israel and the Gaza Strip will resume with the German side later this week.
