German Foreign Ministry announced that Berlin would increase its humanitarian assistance by an additional $19.7 million (about €18 million) to support the civilian population in Gaza Strip.
According to CNN, German Foreign Ministry spokesman Sebastian Fischer said on Wednesday that the goal of the assistance is to provide civilians with essential supplies such as water, food, medicine, and clothing.
Fischer noted that the additional assistance would bring Germany's total aid to Gaza to nearly $196 million (about €179 million) this year.
He added that the ceasefire must "last as long as possible so that the world can deliver the aid that people urgently need in Gaza."
