At the TransMEA 2025 exhibition in Cairo, Siemens Mobility unveiled its cutting-edge “Velaro” high-speed train for the first time in Egypt — marking a major leap in the country’s smart transportation and modern infrastructure projects.

A Landmark for German Engineering

Germany’s Ambassador to Egypt, Juergen Schulz, hailed the Velaro project as “one of Germany’s most significant achievements and a shining example of advanced German technology.” He emphasized that it represents the largest project ever undertaken by a German company abroad, symbolizing the deep and productive cooperation between Berlin and Cairo.

1,600 German Companies Strengthen Egypt’s Economy

Ambassador Schulz highlighted the vital role played by over 1,600 German companies operating in the Egyptian market, noting their contribution to strengthening economic relations and advancing the strategic partnership between Egypt and Germany.

A 2,000-Kilometer Network Connecting 60 Stations

The Velaro will serve as the backbone of Egypt’s new high-speed rail network, stretching over 2,000 kilometers and connecting more than 60 stations across the country. The project is expected to revolutionize Egypt’s sustainable transport system, linking major regions and reducing travel time between key cities.

Experts view the project as a cornerstone in Egypt’s transformation toward a modern, efficient, and environmentally friendly transport infrastructure, reflecting a broader vision of cooperation between Egypt and Germany in technology, industry, and green development.
