Germany has reaffirmed its commitment to the residents of Gaza by sending new humanitarian aid to Egypt for distribution to the population there.

Through the German Red Cross, Germany provided 10,000 sleeping bags and 7,500 hygiene kits via two aid flights on January 2 and 3, 2026.

From El Arish, the shipment will be transported to the border of the Gaza Strip and handed over to the Palestinian Red Crescent for distribution.

These aid shipments were funded by the German Federal Foreign Office and through private donations.

This shipment marks the twenty-first aid delivery sent by the German Red Cross to Gaza since October 2023. German Ambassador Jürgen Schulz stated: “The situation in Gaza is extremely difficult.

Therefore, Germany continues to provide assistance and maintains this commitment through the current shipment of sleeping bags and hygiene items. We are grateful for the good cooperation with Egypt in delivering and distributing the materials. It is important that relief supplies reach those in need quickly.”

In addition to providing humanitarian aid to Gaza, Germany also supports neighboring countries such as Egypt in treating wounded and sick individuals evacuated from Gaza.

Germany has provided Egypt with medical aid totaling 3.1 million euros, including incubators and ventilators. Locally, the German Embassy in Cairo supports the non-governmental organization "Kinder Relief" with a total amount of 120,000 euros to provide medical care for children evacuated from Gaza and their families.

The second phase of the project is currently underway. The Federal Government will continue to work closely with Egyptian partners and international actors to improve the situation in Gaza and promote the peace process.
