Germany's Foreign Ministry has announced a significant allocation of €110 million to aid those affected by the ongoing crisis in Sudan.
This commitment underscores Germany's ongoing support for humanitarian assistance to the Sudanese people.
In a statement on the social media platform "X" (formerly known as Twitter), the German Foreign Ministry highlighted the severe humanitarian crisis unfolding in Sudan.
The statement read, "The famine in Sudan is a humanitarian catastrophe of unprecedented dimensions, resulting from the conflict between the Rapid Support Forces and the Sudanese Armed Forces."
The ministry further elaborated on the dire situation, noting that hundreds of thousands of Sudanese are on the brink of starvation, with many having already succumbed to hunger.
The crisis disproportionately impacts internally displaced persons, the majority of whom are women and children.
Germany's funding aims to address the urgent needs of these vulnerable populations, providing critical support to mitigate the effects of the famine and ongoing conflict.
This allocation is part of a broader international effort to stabilize the region and deliver essential aid to those most in need.
