Germany’s Foreign Office on Friday advised its citizens against traveling to Israel and East Jerusalem, citing escalating regional tensions as the United States continues to threaten possible military strikes against Iran.

In an official statement, the ministry said it is closely monitoring developments in the region and remains in constant communication with its diplomatic missions. The German Embassy in Tel Aviv continues to operate at full capacity, officials confirmed.

“We are following the situation closely and are in continuous contact with our embassy in Tel Aviv, including regarding the security situation of our colleagues there and their families,” the Foreign Office said.

Berlin also emphasized that it is closely observing developments in Iran, where diplomatic relations have been strained in recent months.

According to German broadcaster Deutsche Welle, the ministry said it is coordinating with the German Embassy in Tehran regarding the security of its personnel. However, it noted that staffing levels at the Tehran mission have been reduced for some time due to ongoing diplomatic tensions with Iran.

As a result, the embassy in Tehran is currently only able to provide “very limited consular assistance,” the ministry warned.

The travel advisory underscores growing concern in Europe over the potential for broader regional escalation, as diplomatic efforts struggle to contain mounting tensions between Washington and Tehran.
