German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock on Tuesday had to cancel her week-long tour to the Indo-Pacific region due to technical problems with her government plane.
"We have tried everything, but unfortunately it is logistically impossible to continue my voyage to the Indo-Pacific region," Birbuck said, previously via the "X" Twitter platform.
A spokesman for the German Foreign Ministry stated, on the “X” platform, that the plane tried, on Monday, to take off for the flight from Abu Dhabi twice, but was forced to return for safety reasons due to a technical malfunction in the parts that control the position of the wings.
Baerbuck was scheduled to travel to Australia, New Zealand, and the Fiji Islands.
Last year, Baerbuck had to cancel a trip to meet her British counterpart, James Cleverly, due to bad weather.
In 2018, former Chancellor Angela Merkel was forced to miss the opening of the G20 summit in Argentina due to a "serious malfunction" that forced her government plane to make an emergency landing.
