German Chancellor Supports Diplomacy on Crisis in Ukraine

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz pointed out to the continuation of diplomatic attempts to find a solution to the crisis in Ukraine, indicating to his intention to intensify talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

He said Thursday, during a meeting with citizens in Marburg: "I support diplomacy on the Ukrainian crisis."

Scholz noted that he had contacted Russian President Vladimir Putin several times in recent months, and added, "I intend to repeat it more often."

Earlier, Scholz stressed the need to continue dialogue with the Russian President, in the midst of the crisis in Ukraine.

He added, during an interview with the German newspaper Tagesspiegel, that he had not cut off his contacts with Russian President Putin over the past 11 months, and that the last phone call between them was last December, indicating that he would continue his talks with Putin due to the importance of these talks.
