The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) will temporarily close from June 15 to July 5 as it enters its final stretch of preparations before fully opening to the public.
During this period, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities will carry out a number of organizational and logistical work inside the museum.
Dr. Ahmed Ghoneim, CEO of the Grand Egyptian Museum Authority, confirmed that the museum is scheduled to reopen to visitors following the official opening, during its official working hours, allowing visitors to enjoy the full museum experience.
The GEM will officially open its doors on July 3. It has been undergoing a trial run for several of its venues since October 16th.
The museum authority also began implementing the new official opening hours for these venues in February.
Throughout the week, the GEM welcomes visitors in summer and winter from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. It also opens in the evening on Saturdays and Wednesdays, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
