Former Prime Minister of Iceland, Geir Haarde, stated that the rapid developments unfolding in Iran—most notably following the death of the executioner Ali Khamenei—have placed the international community at a historic turning point that brooks no delay. He emphasized the urgent need for international recognition of the Provisional Government established by the Iranian Resistance.

Haarde said: "The system of Velayat-e Faqih has reached an absolutely dead end, and its final collapse is imminent. While we witness the realities of the external war devastating the regime's military machine, we must recognize that the only force capable of defining Iran's future is the Iranian people and the organized Resistance Units—not foreign military interventions, which do not produce sustainable democracy."

He added: "The announcement by the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) regarding the formation of a Provisional Government led by Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, based on the 10-point plan, represents the most mature and credible political project. This program ensures a peaceful transition of sovereignty to the people and definitively blocks any attempt to revive the buried dictatorship of the Shah or continue the tyranny of the Mullahs."

Haarde continued: "It is regrettable and surprising that major international media platforms continue to ignore the strategic weight of the organized Resistance at a time when the regime's foundations are crumbling. The Mullahs are desperately attempting a theatrical play to install Mojtaba Khamenei to save their eroding power; however, this step will only further weaken the regime against the strikes of the Resistance Units, who are now operating as a disciplined force in the heart of Tehran and across all cities."

The former Prime Minister of Iceland explained: "History has taught us that the policy of appeasement toward a terrorist theocratic regime is a mere illusion. The only solution to the Iranian crisis is a radical democratic change led by the organized alternative that has proven its competence throughout 45 years of struggle and sacrifice."

Haarde emphasized: "The death of the executioner Khamenei has shattered the false prestige of the Velayat-e Faqih regime. Today, we see the Mullahs hiding behind the walls of their security centers, terrified of the inevitable social explosion. The international community is now required to strip the regime's leaders of their immunity and support the right of the Iranian youth to resist and dismantle this oppressive apparatus."

Haarde concluded: "I stand today in support of Mrs. Maryam Rajavi and her team. I call upon the world’s governments to officially recognize the Provisional Government as a fundamental step toward achieving peace and stability in the region, and toward building a free, non-nuclear Iran that respects human rights and ensures the separation of religion and state."
