The Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip announced on Saturday that the death toll from the Israeli war on the territory has risen to 71,654 people, with 171,391 others injured, since the start of the offensive on October 7, 2023.
In a statement, the ministry said that four Palestinians were killed and 12 wounded over the past 48 hours as a result of Israeli gunfire and bombardment. It added that a number of victims remain trapped under rubble or lying in the streets, as ambulance and civil defense teams are still unable to reach them.
The ministry reported that since the ceasefire took effect on October 11, the number of those killed has reached 481, while injuries during the same period have totaled 1,313. Medical teams have also recovered 713 bodies from under the rubble since the ceasefire began.
The ministry further announced the death of three-month-old Ali Abu Zour, who died from severe cold at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital. This brings the total number of child deaths caused by extreme cold since the beginning of winter to 10.
It also noted that 88 additional fatalities were added to the cumulative death toll after their data was fully verified and officially approved by the committee responsible for documenting martyrs, covering the period from January 16 to January 23, 2026.
