Gamal Mostafa Takes Helm as Head of Islamic Coptic Jewish Antiquities Sector at SCA

Egypt’s Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Ahmed Issa, has appointed Dr. Gamal Mostafa to serve again as the Head of the Islamic, Coptic, and Jewish Antiquities Sector at the Supreme Council of Antiquities (SCA).

Prior to his new position, Dr. Mustafa served as the Deputy Secretary-General and director of the technical office of SCA.

He received his Bachelor's degree in Archeology in 1987 from Cairo University's Department of Islamic Archeology. He also holds a Doctorate degree in Archeology and Islamic Arts from Cairo University's Faculty of Archeology, where he received first-class honors.

Throughout his career, Dr. Mostafa has held several leadership positions in the Ministry of Antiquities, including technical supervisor for the establishment of the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC) in 2007, and general director of the Historic Cairo Development Project.

He was also assigned as General Supervisor of the South Cairo Antiquities Area in 2017, General Director of the Citadel Antiquities Area, and Head of SCA in 2018.
