As G-20 summit is wrapping up its second and final day in Osaka, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi is intensifying his activities, meeting senior officials and leaders, and participating in a number of sessions.
Sisi attends sessions and seminars
President Sisi is scheduled to participate, Saturday, in a seminar on the empowerment of women on the sidelines of the summit.
Moreover, the president is set to take part in the third and fourth working sessions of the G-20 summit.
He will also hold bilateral talks with a number of leaders partaking in the summit.
Sisi meets Argentine President
“Earlier today, President Sisi met Argentine President Mauricio Macri on the sidelines of the summit. During the meeting, Egypt's head of state affirmed Egypt's appreciation for the distinguished relations between the two countries," Egyptian presidency spokesperson Bassam Rady said.
“The president praised Argentina’s development experience and the progress it has achieved on the economic level, expressing Egypt's aspiration to develop bilateral relations in various fields, especially the economic and trade ones,” Rady added.
The spokesperson pointed out that the Argentine president praised the Egyptian achievements during the recent years in terms of economic reform and achieving comprehensive development.
“The two sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries in various fields,” Rady said adding that the two presidents welcomed the free trade agreement signed between Egypt and Mercosur, which includes Argentina.
The spokesperson noted that Sisi and Macri stressed that this agreement will contribute to boosting trade exchange between Egypt and the countries of Mercosur.
“The two presidents also stressed their keenness to continue coordination in international forums, especially on issues of mutual interest such as confronting terrorism, peacekeeping operations, reforming Security Council,” Rady revealed.
President Sisi holds talks with Russian counterpart
President Sisi met his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the G-20 summit.
Rady said that the Russian President stressed the importance Moscow attaches to the development of bilateral relations with Egypt in the coming period.
Rady added that Egypt's president affirmed Cairo's aspiration to deepen Egyptian-Russian relations at all levels, praising the important projects that the two countries implement in Egypt, including Dabaa nuclear power station and Russian industrial zone at the Suez Canal axis.
“The tripartite cooperation among Egypt, Russia and Africa was reviewed in the light of Egypt's current presidency of the African Union,” the spokesperson revealed.
Sisi, UN Secretary-General discuss cooperation
President Sisi met UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on the sidelines of G20 summit in Osaka.
“The President expressed his appreciation for meeting the United Nations Secretary-General, affirming Egypt's support for the efforts of the United Nations to maintain international peace and security as well as enhancing the sustainable development”:, Rady said.
On the other hand, Guterres expressed his appreciation for cooperation with Egypt, as it has an effective participation in various activities of the organization, stressing the importance of Egypt's pivotal role in Africa and the Middle East.
