WhatsApp announced that it will stop working on around 49 smartphones across brands, including Apple, Samsung, Huawei, and more, according to GizChina.

The app will no longer support some older smartphones running on outdated operating systems, including Android and iPhones models, after 31 December 2022. Starting from the new year, 1 January 2023, these devices will lose contact with WhatsApp.

The platform has launched updates almost every week to develop the user interface and fix bugs. Hence, WhatsApp discontinues its support for older operating versions every year to focus on new updates.

"To keep up with the latest advances in technology, we routinely stop supporting older operating systems to point our resources to supporting the latest ones," the statement read. “If we stop supporting your operating system, you'll be notified and reminded a few times to upgrade your device to continue using WhatsApp.”

WhatsApp will no longer support Apple iPhone 5 or Apple iPhone 5c.

Regarding Android phones, the app will not support;
