French Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu will travel to Lebanon on Wednesday, according to a statement issued by the French Ministry of the Armed Forces on Tuesday.
The visit, which will last from Wednesday to Friday, is aimed at reaffirming France's commitment to Lebanon's stability.
Lecornu will meet with Lebanese authorities, including Lebanese Prime Minister-designate Najib Mikati.
On Thursday morning, Lecornu will inspect the United Nations Peacekeeping Force (UNIFIL) stationed in southern Lebanon since 1978. UNIFIL has more than 10,000 troops, including about 700 French soldiers.
While in Beirut, Lecornu will honor, on Friday, the victims of the "Drakkar" attack, which killed 58 French soldiers in 1983.
