A regional amateur football match in Morbihan ended in unprecedented chaos, as 24 red cards were issued following violent incidents on and off the pitch.
The match, part of the second regional division, was contested between Avenir de Guillac and Indépendant de Moron and ended in a 2-2 draw. What began as a competitive game quickly escalated after the final whistle.
A conflict between supporters intensified, with players and even a parent becoming involved.
The situation worsened when the father of a Moron player entered the field to defend his son, leading to punches being exchanged and multiple head injuries reported. Witnesses also claimed that sticks or similar objects were used during the fracas.
In response to the chaos, the referee issued 24 red cards out of 27 players, 13 to Avenir de Guillac and 11 to Indépendant de Moron, marking an unprecedented number of dismissals in a single amateur match in France. Police intervened to control the situation before it could escalate further.
Morbihan Football Association is expected to impose strict disciplinary measures on both clubs.
The incident has been described by local media as a “stain” on the history of regional football, highlighting the need for stronger security and stricter enforcement of sportsmanship at the amateur level.
